LOFIM contributed in a seminar on the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists
LOFIM contributed in a seminar organized by the general authority for Monitoring Media Content GAMMC in cooperation with the General Press Authority , on Monday 6 November 2023 about combating impunity for crimes committed against journalists.
The seminar, which was hosted at the headquarters of the General Press Authority in Tripoli, comes in commemoration of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, which falls on the second of November of each yeaand within the framework of the objectives of LOFIM and to partners associations.
The seminar was was moderated by the head of LOFIM began with opening speeches by the chairman of GAMMC, and the President of the General Press Authority abd then presenting a documentary entitled “Ink Crimes”, in which GAMMC memorised the journalists who were killed during their journalistic work in libya from year 2011 till 2019.
In their interventions, the participants also discussed the role of GAMMC, civil society, and the media in combating impunity, and made recommendations calling on government agencies and legislative authorities to activate laws that grant immunity to journalists, and to issue decisions that ensure easy access to information, and not to harass journalists during the exercise of their work, and during their field coverage of events.
